Policy

01

Intended Use

Rasin.ai is designed for academic research, education, and journalism. It is not intended for commercial data extraction, surveillance, or any use that could harm the communities whose histories are represented here. Access to the corpus is provided in good faith for scholarly and educational purposes.

02

Data Sources & Rights

The corpus draws from archival materials, digitized historical records, and public-domain documents. Where sources remain under copyright, only excerpts are surfaced for research purposes under fair use principles. We acknowledge the originating institutions and primary source repositories throughout our metadata.

03

Takedown & Removal Requests

If you believe material on Rasin.ai infringes your rights or should be removed, please email contact@studio1804.org with the subject line "Takedown Request". Describe the material, its location, and the basis for your claim. We aim to respond within five business days and will act promptly on valid requests.

04

Ethics Statement

Historical persons — including enslaved individuals named in archival records — are represented with dignity and in their full humanity. We do not expose data about living individuals. Our approach follows archival ethics standards and the practices of the community of historians working with colonial-era records. Contested historical claims are surfaced as such, not flattened into a single narrative.

05

Privacy

Guest sessions are ephemeral and not linked to any identity. Registered user email addresses are stored securely and are never sold or shared with third parties. We do not use tracking pixels or third-party advertising scripts. Usage data is collected solely for improving the service.
