The memoirs of Louis Boisrond-Tonnerre — author of Haiti's Declaration of Independence (1804) and secretary to Dessalines — published in an 1851 Paris edition edited by Saint-Remy from two damaged complementary copies. One of the first written accounts of the Haitian Revolution by a revolutionary participant, the volume includes Boisrond-Tonnerre's narrative memoirs, political acts and manifestos he authored, and Saint-Remy's historical and critical introduction.
