On December 2, 1792, white club agitators at Cap-Français attacked the battalion of free men of color, forcing them back toward La Fossette and Haut-du-Cap. Commissioner Sonthonax later recalled surviving only because men of color made a rampart of their bodies around him. The combat directly preceded Sonthonax's proclamation of December 4 and fed into deportations that further weakened the white club faction around figures like Larchevesque-Thibaud.
Was among the leading club agitators arrested and deported to France in the aftermath of the December 2, 1792 fighting in Cap-Français.
The combat was part of the same crisis that produced the October dissolution of the colonial assembly
