This note documents romantic love, intimacy, and partnership among enslaved people in Saint-Domingue. It serves as a resource for understanding how enslaved people built emotional bonds, expressed desire, formed partnerships, and created families despite the systematic attempt to reduce them to commodities. Love was both survival strategy and radical assertion of humanity.
