Marronnage — Fugitive Slave Advertisements

September, 15, 1814. Runaway from the Subscriber some time ago, a Creole Negro Man, named CATCHBY, 5 feet 9 inches high, by trade a bricklayer, of a yellow complexion, and stout made: He is supposed to be harboured between Spanish-Town and Above- Rocks, as he was seen on the way to the latter, and his family is living at the former place, as he was bought from there: Also WILLIAM, a Congo, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches, marked SM on his breasts and shoulders, of a black complexion, has lost the little toe of one foot, and has a sore on the leg; he is accustomed to work on board of vessels in the harbour. Whoever will lodge the said Negroes in a place of security, or bring them to the Subscriber in Kingston, near the Man of War Pump, shall receive Eight Dollars reward each.
