Marronnage — Fugitive Slave Advertisements

Whitehall, Liguanea, July 17, 1811 Ranaway, on the 10th of March last, from this Estate, a Negro Man, named PHIL, a Mungola, about five feet high, rather stout and very black, and marked SP, K, sideways, on top, on both shoulders and breasts. He is supposed to be harboured at Up Park Camp. Any person bringing home the said Negro, or lodging him in any Gaol or Workhouse, will receive a Pistole Reward, on application to the overseer.
