Marronnage — Fugitive Slave Advertisements

Kingston, May 15, 1801. RAN AWAY from the subscriber, about six weeks ago, a young Negro Man, named PETER, of a yellow complexion, about five feet in height, well known in the different parishes throughout the island; he is a native of America, and is very artful, and may attempt to pass as a free man; is marked on the right shoulder IA. A Reward of One Pistole will be given to any person apprehending said fellow, and lodging him in any workhouse, or bringing him to the subscriber; and a further reward of Twenty Guineas will be given to any person that will prove to conviction by whom he is harboured.
